Smarty Smart Surfing

Kia ora bloggers, yesterday my Class were learning about Smart Surfing. Smart surfing means you only use keywords when you are searching something up on Google. You do this because if you write “how fast is a cheetah” on Google, Google will give you every page that has the words “how, is, a” and might not even give you something about Cheetahs. So you just need to write “Cheetah running speed” because those are the keywords. Then you will get the real answer you want because Google is looking for the words “Cheetah, running and speed” which is the actual thing you want to come up. This was really fun learning about because now I know how to find the best answer for anything I want to find on Google.

Has your teacher ever taught you about Smart Surfing?

Coastal Seas

Kia ora bloggers, yesterday my Class watch a video of Our Planet about Sea Creatures, Oceans and the Planet. The director of the show is David Attenborough, he is an inspiring person to watch because he explains what actually happens in the Ocean. I learnt lots about the White Tipped Reef Shark and what it does, Here some facts my group & I found about the White Tipped Reef Sharks.

Facts: The White Tipped Shark are 1 of 440 species in the world. They have relentlessly kept being caught and their population reduced by 90 percent. They also let little fish called wrasse clean their teeth by plucking off the gunk.  These sharks prefer to hunt in the dark rather than the day.

We also found some facts about the Wrasse and what it does in the Ocean. Here are some facts:Wrasse are a very small fish that clean the sharks teeth. Wrasse are practically their pet; they follow the shark nearly everywhere they go. If they have the feeling that there teeth need to be cleaned they would just open their mouth and the wrasse will clean the sharks mouth. Have you ever watch David Attenborough? Heres my DLO

M.I.F Math is fun

Kia ora bloggers, Today I was learning about adding and subtracting decimals.  At first I didn’t know what to do until my teacher explained what we were doing. The main strategy was to use addition & decimals. We were allowed to use algorithms to solve the questions because it was helping my group. The best strategy for me was decimals, additions & algorithms. These are the best strategies for me because decimals helped me to solve these questions faster. The easiest part for me was to solve the question because the questions were just decimals about additions.

Have you ever used these math strategies?

Task masters.

Kia ora, on Monday we played a fun game called Task masters. The Task was to  get In a team, and have 10 minutes to copy the picture that is outside. One person is the drawer and can not run anywhere. There are also two runners that can switch turns to go run outside, but only one person per team running at a time. All team members that are not drawing  must run at least one time. Runners couldn’t touch the paper because if they did they  would be disqualified.

Atemp1: first time trying this with my buddy was really fun because we did really good communicating and enjoyed it. The thing that was hard for me was that my buddy  kept yelling at me because I was too slow at drawing the photo. The most challenging thing for me was trying to focus, because it was noisy inside my classroom.

Attempt 2:In attempt 2 I was put with another group. My new group was fun because we kept laughing and we worked really well because we talked & explained clearly. The thing that worked well for me was  talking to the drawer and explaining where to draw. The thing that didn’t work well was being impatient with the drawer because the drawers coloring pens kept on braking when she tried to draw fast. What was challenging? I think the most challenging thing for me was to kept on running outside & running inside because I got tired from running to much.

Have you ever tried to make a different version of taskmaster?

Ultra Kawa of Care

Last week my class was learning about the kawa of Care because sometimes we would forget about Kawa of Care, if you don't know what kawa of care is, it’s how to look after your Chromebook properly. We had to explain how to look after your Chromebook in a DLO. We also had to write down information of the rules we have to follow in order for us to follow the kawa of care.  My group thought it was really challenging to think of and ideas because there were lots of great ideas to write about.  It was really fun because you could work with a buddy when making  presentation about kawa of care.  Here is a link to me and my friends screencastify. I hope you enjoyed my post!

Have you ever made a kawa of care DLO?

Mind blowing Food Web

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about food webs. When we were doing food webs we had to use arrow because the arrow are explaining what the consumers eats . Also here's a explanation:  I think the arrows are explaining what gets eaten. If the arrow was coming from a tui to a plant then that means the plant is eating the Tui so it should be the other way. So the arrows are a  to be ponting from the plant to the Tui. When the Tui eats the plant the Tui gets energy, because the plant is just energy. The hardest thing for me was thinking where the arrow go. But once I got the hang of it, it was easy. Also I made a good drawing for the food web. Hope you enjoyed my post.

I learnt about food webs in my class, have you?

Warning Tsunami

Kia ora bloggers. Last Friday was very horrific for me because there was some tsunami warnings.  On Friday I was late to school but when my dad dropped me off at the office I saw Mrs Lindsay.  Mrs Lindsay looked very scared, but I was very happy I saw her because I didn’t hear about the tsunami. Mrs lindsay told me to tell my dad that we needed to go home and get everyone.  Once we were on the hill  at Te Haumi we started to call family members to see if they were safe.  I was terrified because this was my first ever time being told that a tsunami was coming.

How was your Tsunami Evacuation?
